I’m not going into this in massive detail since it falls outside the scope of this article as it a very complicated process of setting up a dating web site.

There are some home truths you need to hear before even considering this route. Firstly that you will not see any profit for at least 5 years or until you have a substantial member database of hundreds of thousands of people. Secondly, you will be investigating all your money into it for years to come with no and little return as you compete with the big boys. Unless, you are targeting a new niche with a ready audience that are willing to pay then I would avoid going down this road. If on the other hand that just wants his/her own web site and are approaching this as a labour of love then you can’t think of this as a business, so expect a negative balance sheet for along time.

So what do you need to get into this business:

1. A Concept or target market in mind – Even an idea will do.
2. A Domain to use for your business.
3. Hosting for your data web site.
4. Dating Server Software.
5. A Developer to customise your software.
6. A large marketing budget every year and lots of patience.
